Statement following the May 14th Buffalo, NY mass shooting

The global resurgence of white supremacy is a scourge on all that we value at the Justice Collaboratory and one that we all must actively oppose.

As JC member Jason Stanley wrote: “America has many mass shootings.  But this mass killing of Black Americans in a Buffalo supermarket must serve as a wake-up call to our country. White replacement theory is deeply ingrained in the worst aspects of American and European history.

At the Justice Collaboratory, our individual and collective commitment to anti-racism is strengthened by each one of these horrific acts of hate.  We will continue to work with urgency towards a better society that includes vibrant and safe communities, a fair and transparent justice system in which everyone is treated with respect, and online communities that engage in and promote civil discourse in a manner that benefits society.
