Welcome New Justice Collaboratory Members

The Justice Collaboratory at Yale Law School is thrilled to welcome three new members to our community:

Reginald Dwayne Betts, Founder & Director, Freedom Reads

Reginald Dwayne Betts is an acclaimed poet, a legal scholar, and fierce advocate. His renowned and much-honored work explores the world of prison and the effects of violence and incarceration on American society. The author of a memoir and three collections of poetry, his latest collection of poetry, Felon, explores the post incarceration experience and lingering consequences of a criminal record. Betts was recently named a MacArthur fellow in recognition of his “commitment to building a more just, verdant, and peaceful world.”  

Sarita Yardi Schoenebeck, Associate Professor of Information, University of Michigan

Dr. Schoenebeck, an Associate Professor in the School of Information at the University of Michigan, directs the Living Online Lab (LOL) and is a member of the Michigan Interactive (MISC) & Social Computing and the Social Media Research Lab (SMRL). Her celebrated research focuses on addressing equity and justice in online environments where she examines online harassment, dark patterns, algorithms, and identity and privacy in social media. She is also a faculty affiliate with the Digital Studies Institute (DSI), the Science and Technology in Public Policy program (STPP), and the Michigan Institute for Data Science (MIDAS), among others.

Jason Stanley, Jacob Urowsky Professor of Philosophy, Yale University

Professor Stanley is an award-winning author, an influential voice in the popular press, and has a prolific presence on Twitter.  He writes about authoritarianism, propaganda, free speech, and mass incarceration. Professor Stanley’s latest book is How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them (Penguin Random House, 2018). His current project is a book on non-ideal philosophy of language, The Politics of Language, co-authored with David Beaver, forthcoming with Princeton University Press in 2022.
