Sarita Schoenebeck is an Associate Professor of Information at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Schoenebeck is an Associate Professor in the School of Information at the University of Michigan where she directs the Living Online Lab (LOL) and is a member of the Michigan Interactive (MISC) & Social Computing and the Social Media Research Lab (SMRL). She is also a faculty affiliate with the Digital Studies Institute (DSI), the Science and Technology in Public Policy program (STPP), and the Michigan Institute for Data Science (MIDAS), among others. Externally, she is also a Fellow at the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) and the Yale Information Society Project (ISP).

Dr. Schoenebeck’s research is in the areas of Social Media, Human-Computer Interaction, and Social Computing, and addresses equity and justice in online environments. Current projects of her group are promoting justice for targets of online harassment, measuring dark patterns in design and algorithms, and supporting identity and privacy in social media. Her work has received Best Paper and Honorable Mention Awards at CHI and CSCW and received the UMSI Faculty award for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the inaugural ACM CSCW Service award.
