Beier (Belle) Li
Post-Baccalaureate Research Fellow| beier.li@yale.edu
Belle graduated from Reed College with Phi Beta Kappa honors, double majoring in psychology and dance. Her psychology thesis examined solitary cannabis use, coping motives, and symptoms of depression and anxiety among emerging adults, while her dance thesis explored autobiographical expression in contemporary dance as a political act that challenges dominant notions of universality in human experience.
Prior to joining the Justice Collaboratory, her research experience spanned behaviorism, psychophysics, and firearm injury prevention. She now conducts research at the intersection of public health and criminal justice, examining how the criminal legal system shapes health inequities. More broadly, she hopes to use epidemiologic methods to understand how social and political institutions shape population health and why systems designed to promote health, justice, and fairness can fail the people most vulnerable to harm.
