Gwen Prowse is a Visiting Research Scholar in Law and Co-Director of the Justice Fellows Program.
Prior to joining the Justice Collaboratory, she was an assistant professor in the departments of Political Science and Africana Studies at Tulane University in New Orleans. She earned a joint PhD in Political Science and Black Studies at Yale University in 2022 and BA in Urban Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University in 2011. Her research areas include race and ethnicity politics, with a specialization in Black politics and race and criminalization in U.S. public policy. Central to Dr. Prowse’s research and her scholarly ethic is the belief that bottom-up accounts are vital for understanding and upending injustice: behind all “data” are people with experiences and stories as political agents. Her co-authored work has appeared in Science, the Journal of Politics, the Journal of Race, Ethnicity, and Politics, and the Urban Affairs Review.
