Commissioned Artist-The Notebook

The Justice Collaboratory is commissioning talented visual artists for Volume 2 of The Notebook.

The Notebook is a platform dedicated to exploring critical themes through writing, visual art, and interdisciplinary exchange. Each volume brings together unique voices to examine a central theme – Volume 2 centers on solidarities: the connections we build, the collective actions we take, and the communities we nurture across geographies, struggles, and imaginations. The Justice Collaboratory is committed to building, nurturing, and leveraging connections to affect mutual support and transformation.

 The Opportunity
Commissioned artists will be invited to create new or use existing work that responds to the theme. The editors and contributing authors of The Notebook will be thought partners. Selected works will be featured in the print publication, online, and “IRL” exhibitions with an honorarium provided for each contributor. We are particularly interested in artists whose work intersects with questions of collective care, resistance, justice, and multidisciplinary kinship.

We welcome submissions across a wide range of media including illustration, photography, collage, painting, textile, digital, and conceptual works. We value experimental approaches and encourage proposals that engage the theme from unexpected or deeply personal perspectives.

If interested, email Justice.Collaboratory@yale.edu with samples of your work.
